2003 Australian Aged Care Awards Industry: Best Retirement Village (NZ)

The development of forty-two serviced residential units represents the first phase of apartments to be developed on the Lady Allum integrated aged care development site following the comprehensive refurbishment of the aged care facility.

Designed to embrace Presbyterian Support Services "Ageing in Place" philosophy, the new apartments are designed to allow residents to remain in their "own home" regardless of the level of their physical impairment due to age-related conditions.

All apartments are 100% wheelchair accessible and can accommodate hospital beds and the full range of nursing support facilities that may be required to assist those residents in need. Indeed, the level of disability adaptation is arguably, unique in the New Zealand market.

The apartments are designed to reflect the highest level of lifestyle expectations pertinent to apartment accommodation in the 21st century. Residents enjoy the full range of facilities with all apartments having en-suite bathrooms, separate living areas and external balconies or decks. A full complement of communal and nursing support facilities is also included in the development.
