"An exemplar of both rapid disaster recovery and future flexibility."

Designed and constructed within a fast-track time methodology, this new facility replaced existing buildings badly damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes. The completed two level out-patients building provides over 2400m2 of adaptable modular layout with 33 consulting rooms and 4 procedure rooms.

Given the client’s ambition to build a permanent, multi-storey out-patients facility within 10 years, the building was innovatively designed (in conjunction with Warren & Mahoney) as a series of inter-connected 8m wide modules that can be disconnected and relocated to another site in Canterbury providing flexibility and the opportunity for future re-use as an integrated family health centre.
