"A modern, agile workspace delivered via a creative and collaborative fast track approach."

Workspace design is changing and Chow:Hill collaborated with McCaw Lewis in Hamilton to create a modern, flexible workplace to enhance both their client and employee experience.

Located in Hamilton’s CBD, the 50-strong McCaw Lewis team inhabits the top two floors of 586 Victoria Street. The law firm wanted a workspace redesign that supported more agile team dynamics and dissolved some of the workplace’s traditional silos.

An integral part of the design concept was ensuring the space was future-fit for the next generation of the firm’s practice and clients. Stakeholder sessions with McCaw Lewis enabled the new workplace environment to be tested and developed, and ensured stakeholder buy-in of the change to workplace design.

The design was modelled on a modern industrial aesthetic, while preserving and respecting the history of the original building. This was achieved by combining balance of new and existing building materials and techniques. This ensured the aesthetic worked with the existing building fabric, while still achieving a modern, spacious look and feel conducive to the trend of today’s workplace environments.

Open communication and respect were essential for the success of this project to ensure minimal disruption and meet tight timeframes for delivery of this first stage. A design build process delivered in conjunction with Foster Develop fast-tracked design and construction enabling key project milestones to be achieved.
