Fascinated by the possibility of using plants as infrastructure, landscape architect Joshua Chia sees the potential to influence New Zealand landscape design principles.
From the gardens of Malaysia and Singapore to the rehabilitation of the River Avon in Christchurch, Joshua’s interest in landscape architecture spans climates and continents. His experience in designing resilient, sustainable and ecologically vibrant spaces stems from his desire to seek creative ways to integrate man with nature.
Recognising the importance of mental health and mindfulness, Joshua enjoys the challenge of designing spaces that encourage reconnection with nature, from public courtyards to high-scale residential developments. His high-quality landscape and planning plans, combined with his construction drawings and landscape evidence enable clients to connect with his designs from the outset.
Outside of the Tāmaki Makaurau studio, Joshua views his environment from a different perspective – as a part-time fitness instructor and handstand coach!
