The restrictions and opportunities of site and space intrigue Architectural Graduate, Leon Roper, and contribute to the design outcomes he strives to deliver for his clients.
Working and travelling abroad prior to joining the Chow:Hill Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau studio has given Leon a memory bank of design ideas he can draw on for clients. His interest in how buildings can shape our activities and, conversely, how our activities can shape buildings, sees Leon push design boundaries to achieve optimal outcomes for all project stakeholders and end users.
Leon has worked on a range of projects across the commercial and residential sectors, including heritage buildings, seismic upgrades, motor trade buildings, student accommodation, and town house developments. Recent examples include Kāinga Ora community developments, residential apartments and townhouses, Tāmaki Regeneration and Mai Health container clinics.
Leon combines his technical skills, of sketch design and 3D CAD models, with a collaborative approach to design work. Prior to embarking on a new project, Leon ensures he has a full understanding of the requirements in order to shape its corporate identity and achieve all the possibilities an environment offers.
