Inspired by parametric design, CAD/BIM specialist Rod Tian seeks to influence design with greater efficiencies and smarter processes through new programmes and methods.
From creating lego structures to practising the piano, playing computer games to reading manga magazines… Rod’s childhood activities have influenced his professional career as a CAD/BIM specialist.
Working from the Chow:Hill Tāmaki Makaurau studio, Rod believes design and architecture should be a fun and stimulating process and that BIM plays a significant role in that. Inspired by by parametric design gurus, such as Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry, Rod is fascinated by new design programmes and methods and the role of parametric design in architecture.
As a BIM specialist, Rod explores ways of improving workflow efficiency and productivity, seeking to design smarter and achieve balance between aesthetics and practicality.
When he’s not immersed in mathematical and algorithmic equations, Rod enjoys fitness, wellbeing and financial investment.
