Chow:Hill was engaged to formulate a concept based on a brief that required a building that reflected both the tenant’s brand and rural New Zealand. The design solution responded to the brief with the use of natural materials such as Cedar slats for solar shading, and natural honed concrete panels that provide a soft welcoming material palette for the building. This new office building brings ambience to its urban context through the careful selection and appropriate scale of the materials employed. A sense of occasion is achieved through a generous entry point that connects office and function spaces. The floor plan provides a modern work environment for current staff with space to grow, meeting spaces and breakout spaces for the team. Commercial success was made possible through a well managed negotiation between owner’s brief, the tenant’s brand and design requirements.
