A collaborative design-build project with Wintec’s Infrastructure and Assets team enabled Chow:Hill to shape spaces and services that support all aspects of student life.
The project brief called for an innovative refurbishment and extension to Wintec’s Rotokauri student hub that would support the academic needs of students outside the classroom. The design returned the building to the students and provided variety, flexibility and spatial clarity within a new social learning environment.
Working in collaboration with Wintec’s Campus Developments Team, Chow:Hill took a holistic approach to student wellbeing to refurbish the hub and provide spaces and services that supported all aspects of tertiary life.
The building’s interior offers a variety of modern, vibrant and engaging spaces that address both academic and recreational needs, while the open plan, flexible environment allows a wide range of activities and workstyles to take place across an efficient floor area.
An innovative zoned approach to soft fit-out and plug and play technology has allowed Wintec to respond to changes in their customer mix, academic delivery and support service model in ways that were not previously possible.
The design process and outcomes took a holistic approach to student health and wellbeing, investing in the academic success of Wintec’s students, and the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
